Matthew had been sleeping the crib we bought him, converted into a toddler bed. I wasn't quite sure he was ready for a twin bed, and I was planning on buying a second crib for the new baby. But the more I thought about it, the more I thought he might need a bigger bed. He had been falling out of the bed because he was sleeping in it sideways and moving around so much. And decided to buy him a twin since eventually he would need it and just reuse the crib instead buying a new one, and eventually another twin too. So I started looking around for what I wanted because I didn't want it to be too tall where he couldn't get in it very well or would hurt him self he if he fell out. I found what I wanted but couldn't decide when to transition him to it. Well that decision was made for us and very quickly. The bed he was in was recalled. There was a flaw with the drop downside(we never had a problem, but didn't want to chance it with the next one); and they weren't replacing it, so we had to take it back, get money back and get Matthew a new bed. It worked out well, we got store credit with Walmart and the bed I wanted was from there and Sams was have a great sale on Serta Mattresses(Labor Day weekend). So we got the Mattress that Sunday. Now the bed I wanted could only be bought online, but we decided to look around in San Antonio at different stores to see if we could get one right away(shipping would take 2 weeks!) We drove all over SA and the only one we found was not as good quality as the one at Walmart and they wanted $100 more for it. Also, I wanted to Cars theme for his bed, but MAN!! even Walmart wanted way too much money for each peice so we decided to stick with John Deere and we had a fleece blanket that would fit the twin that Gaelan's Mom and gotten a long time ago. So discouraged, we took the mattress home and had to put it on the floor for Matthew to sleep on.
Here is a picture of him the first night sleeping on the Mattress. It's great, now there is room for us to lay down with him if need be, and him not come into our bed.(not that he does that anyways)
On Monday we went to the local (garage sale)Walmart to get a few small things and oddly enough they had the bed in stock(only slightly lighter in color that we had initially wanted but we are ok with it)
The bed we got is a storage bed. I love it! It's just over a foot high and we got a low profile mattress, so it is under 2 feet tall, so not too tall for Matthew to get in, and not that much higher than his toddler bed, so not that far to fall and no box spring needed! But big enough to have through out his childhood and teenage years! Plus Great storage drawers!! Now it's not solid wood and we would have preferred that, but 1, that's just out of our price range and 2, though it's pressed wood, both Gaelan and I are impressed with sturdiness and good constuction of the bed and we have a couple of book shelves we got when we first got married and they are still in great condition, so we are confident that this bed will last!

Now you can't see the drawers of his bed, but there three. We also got him the matching night stand and we had to rearrange his room a little bit, once I get everything set up and looking nice, I will put up more pics. Matthew loves his bed and has lots of room. Now he looks so tiny in it.LOL
This the color we wanted, but you get the idea. Eventually we are thinking about getting him the matching dresser.
