Bifocals? Really?
Matthew went to the eye doc a couple of weeks ago for a scheduled check up. His vision is doing well and he amazes me how well he behaves and cooperates with the tests they do... he loves to show off how smart he is! LOL. With his old lenses I noticed that his right eye was still crossing so the eye doc said that he needed bifocals. What?!?!? I thought those were for old people who can't see anything? He said that his eyes cross when he changes from seeing far to near so the bifocal would help his eyes to learn how to refocus thru the transition. They look different than other bifocals(and cost twice as much as single vision lenses). His start at the center and only go to the middle of the lense, and the bifocal part sticks out quite a bit. For a kid whose vision isn't that bad without the lense, sure does need a strong script, the normal lense is +3.00 and the bifocal is +3.75. Even in the shatter resistant polycarbonate, the lenses are pretty thick. I kind of feel sorry for him. He is already so smart and advanced, and the doc said he is going to need these at least thru middle school, he is going to look so dorky. I know that sounds horrible. But as a child who grew up being made fun of all the time, over how skinny I was, or my thick dorky glasses and whatever, I don't want my son to go thru the same thing! I hope that maybe by starting school with them, they kids will be more accepting!!!
Sorry for the blurriness, he wouldn't stand still and I guess my camera is getting old.
