Happy 2nd Birthday Matthew!!!

Yesterday was Matthew's 2nd Birthday. Though we are having his official party on Sunday (My 27th Birthday and the day he came home from the hospital), we just couldn't go thru the day w/out a little bit of celebration. So I took him shopping for his gift and then when Daddy got home, we had a mini party (which included watching the Spurs {WIN!}, he loves them, always says "GO SPURS GO!) We had his favorite dinner, Pizza or in Matthewese "E-ah" and a chocolate muffin, since he will have a cake at his party.

His Birthday Pizza

Singing Happy Birthday

Eating our Birthday Muffin, though he called it cake

Graciously Sharing his cake with Daddy and Mommy!

We had our 24 month check today. No shots but did have to have blood drawn for lead test. The Doc says Matthew looks Great. Few of you know or knew that I had some concerns about Matthew being slightly Autistic. I spoke with some Moms at my church who have Autistic Boys about my concerns and they agreed that I should get him checked out. We went and saw a Pediatric Neurologist a few weeks ago. He said that though he does have some similar characteristics of Autism, it's the characteristics that he doesn't have that's the indicator. The PN was quite sure that he is not since he as such great language skills, good socially, and is adaptable. We go back to see him in August for a recheck just to be sure and he was interested in studying him a little since he does have some characteristics; I was told not to worry, he is a watch and see case, but most likely not. Anyways his regular pediatrician was pleased with him and his growth, yes Matthew is small (only 10% for his head and about 30% for heigth and weight, but my head is only 2 inches bigger than his)but he said it is more about the family than the percentages and since he has consistantly grown and thrived, that I shouldn't worry. He actually said that he would rather most be in these percentages than above 50%.

Just to brag a little Matthew knows 7 colors : Blue, Green, Red, Yellow, White, Pink and Orange. I had very little to do with him learning these. He just picks it up so fast. The ones I did help him with, he learned just after once or twice telling him the color. He can sort of count to 5, I say one, he says 2, 3, I say 4, he says 5. The fingers, he hasn't figured out yet, when you ask him how old he is he says 2 but holds up one finger (and his thumb, maybe that counts a 2, who knows)LOL

We finaly got everything set up to capture video off of our camcorder, so I recorded us singing to him! It is a little washed out because I had to brighten it, and the sound isnt that great because of the bare walls and ceramic tile in our Kitchen, but it beats the clicking noise in the back ground that we were getting with the digital camera! Enjoy!!
